**Course description and learning outcomes**:
In this course, students will learn basic and advanced concepts of website design. Plenty of opportunities will be provided to students to use those concepts to create compelling websites of their own. First, students will learn how to code in HTML. Then they will move on to code-editing features and learn how to style the pages using CSS. Finally, the students will learn some more advanced concepts of web-page design, including cascading style sheets, Java script, CSS3, jQuery and layout design for the web.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

- Create basic websites.
- Learn the fundamentals of code editors.
- Learn how to create web pages in HTML5 & CSS and work with online media.
- Manage online files with the FTP protocol.
- Create a basic portfolio website.
- Learn more advanced HTML5, CSS3, and the basics of frameworks with JavaScript.
- Become familiar with animation, web fonts and advanced form elements.
- Use media queries to create websites for desktop and mobile platforms.
- Become familiar with online portfolio design and structure.

**Qualifications and assets**:

- Education with a BFA or BA, or equivalent with a Major in Graphic Design or Computer Science
- Five years of relevant work experience or equivalent
- Three years of relevant teaching experience, or equivalent with experience in Adobe Digital Graphics - Internet Development
