**Working for the Department/Faculty**

Our Steadward Centre team is working together to support the participation of adults, youth, and children experiencing disability in meaningful physical activity, para sport, and recreation activities. As a non-profit centre, within the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta, our focus on research and education allow us to deliver innovative programs and share knowledge and expertise with community recreation and physical activity leaders across Alberta.

**Position**

The Adapted Physical Activity Consultant (APA) - Member Experience will play a key role in member and partner engagement at The Steadward Centre. You will be responsible for engaging with new and current TSC participants (members) throughout the stages of becoming a member with TSC (e.g., recruitment and retention). This includes intake (e.g. answering questions, providing information), scheduling and conducting exercise assessments, and exercise prescription, program planning, and delivery for individuals experiencing disability. You will also be involved in regular engagement with community organizations as part of the recruitment and retention related activities.

**Duties**
- Conduct facility tours, consultations, fitness assessments for children, youth, and adults living with impairment.
- Respond to general inquiries about TSC, including answering questions to assist indiviudals in selecting their program options.
- Engage in outreach and information sharing activities with identified organizations (e.g., Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, SCI Alberta, MS Society, Edmonton Sport Council, etc.).
- Prepare exercise prescriptions for persons living with impairment in accordance with evidence based and/or CSEP protocols where applicable.
- Plan and facilitate group fitness and instructional programs based on evidence based practice.
- Facilitate external programming for school and community groups interested in APA programming.

**Qualifications**
- Degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education or related field.
- First Aid and CPR level C required.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in response to individual needs.
- CSEP-CEP or CSEP-CPT preferred.
