- The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.- The Engineering, Parks and Environment Department is seeking a temporary full time Manager, Parks and Natural Spaces to join their team for a two-year term.**Responsibilities**
- This exciting new role will lead and set strategic direction for a large team that coordinates planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of the City’s parks and outdoor recreation system, urban forestry and natural areas, streetscapes, and the City’s cemetery.- Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Parks and Public Spaces, this position will be a key member of the City’s public space team that includes the Shipyards and Public Realm Infrastructure group. This position is also responsible for capital financial planning and management, outdoor asset planning and negotiating park, recreation and environment infrastructure delivered through private and third party infrastructure development activities.- Upcoming projects (2024) that will be under the direction of this position:
- renewal of Kings Mill Walk Park, a 4+ acre destination waterfront park,
- construction of two new parks in the Central Lonsdale neighborhood, and,
- a city-wide Parks & Public Spaces comprehensive plan.
- Key responsibilities include the oversight of teams responsible for the following:
- Planning, delivery and construction, including design and development through major repair, redevelopment or new construction, as well as, capital financial planning and management.
- Maintenance and operations of the City’s parks and outdoor recreation system and streetscapes,
- Urban forestry operations including maintenance and expanding the City’s urban forest canopy ,
- Natural area management and rehabilitation including enhancing creek ravine health and community stewardship activities

**Requirements**:

- You have a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a leadership role for city-wide municipal parks and recreation planning, design and operations. You may come from a range of educational backgrounds such as Landscape Architecture, Parks & Recreation Management or Urban Forestry and possess a degree and relevant professional designation. You also bring a proven record of large park-related project delivery relying on your experience in park and recreation planning, design, development. You will have exceptional management and communication skills in the leadership of a broad range of teams.**Compensation**
- We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $145,752 to $169,548 annually (2024 rates). (Salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.)**Hours of Work**
