**Job Summary**:
**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Support the Treaty, Lands, and Resources Department and address Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) community interests in the delivery of parks initiatives. Previous knowledge and experience with parks planning, ecosystem management, and project management is an asset. The listed duties are not intended to describe every function that may be performed by this position. The omission of specific statements does not preclude management from assigning additional duties not listed if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Natural Resources Planning Manager and staff in the Treaty, Lands and Resources Department to coordinate the development and implementation of park plans and park co-management agreements including the Say Nuth Khaw Yum Park Management Plan, the Whey-ah-Wichen/Cates Park Master Plan, and the təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park Cultural Planning and Co-operation Agreement
- Support development and implementation of new and updated park plans with creativity and a multi-disciplinary, holistic mindset that honours the needs of the Tsleil-Waututh community and integrates TWN rights, title, interests, values and cultural expression
- Work to build positive working relationships with BC Parks, District of North Vancouver, Metro Vancouver, the Vancouver Parks Board, and other agencies and jurisdictions involved with park planning and management including other TWN departments, and other First Nation governments.
- Advocate for and assert TWN’s mandate in an intergovernmental setting by representing TWN on park technical committees, and supporting park steering committees
- Prepare, facilitate, and lead internal and external meetings
- Review and analyze project referrals for activities in parks of interest to TWN, and provide written responses assessing potential impacts and benefits to TWN
- Support and develop initiatives to increase TWN members access to the lands and waters throughout the territory, working closely with the TWN school and Elder’s group, TWN communications team and other Treaty, Lands and Resource’s staff.
- Execute project management tasks including keeping track of project budgets, invoicing, budget reporting, activity tracking and scheduling, deadline and progress management, and file management
- Provide regular updates to the Manager, and support internal and external communications which may include the development of presentations, community engagement, media releases, and council information packages.
- Conduct site visits and in-field reconnaissance, as needed
- Other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or Geography with 2 years of parks planning or related experience. _Will consider alternate combinations of education and relevant work experience._
- Knowledge and understanding of planning, parks management, and ecosystem stewardship
- Understanding of Indigenous rights and title, particularly in the context of B.C.
- Understanding of the current and historical culture of the Coast Salish Peoples
- Previous experience working in a First Nations community and/or organization is preferred
- Must successfully pass a Criminal Record Check
