Position purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Residence Life, the Residence Life Coordinator is accountable for the development and execution of service and program delivery that contribute to a superior experience for students living in residence, encouraging student participation in the community, contributing to student success and in turn, creating a competitive advantage for the University.

The position ensures the smooth functioning of Residence Life services and programs, which are concerned with promoting the personal, professional and social development of students with the intent to positively impact upon retention and the academic success of students while fostering a strong sense of belonging.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborates in the development and execution of Residence Life initiatives, including the development and design of programs, activities and initiatives for students (developmental and community based, both active and passive); program and service evaluation and the development of recommendations for ongoing service/program improvements, practices and initiatives.- Provides leadership, guidance and supervision to Student Employees to ensure services, programs and support to students are delivered according to the principles and objectives of the Housing Service mandate, and in compliance with established policies and guidelines.- Responds to and provides support and resolution toward a broad range of issues and challenges that surface in a student residence community, including addressing and managing student behaviour, managing and resolving conflicts, and managing risk and incident response. The Coordinator is required to review and analyze relevant facts, liaise with University staff, faculty and other relevant authorities to advise and inform, as necessary; document case files; develop recommendations for the resolution of issues and appropriate outcomes; and ensure the appropriate follow-up.- Serves as an ongoing liaison at the operational level with campus partners, such as faculty, finance, resident associations; as well as with community based representatives to advise, resolve issues and create opportunities for enhancing a positive student experience in the context of the residence life mandate.- Responsible for the recruitment, selection, ongoing supervision and training, performance management, scheduling, leave approval and overtime approval of Student employees. Provides ongoing coaching and guidance to Student Employees on triaging issues and challenges, incident management practices, ensuring student safety and well-being and guidelines for case referrals and appropriate escalation of issues.

- University degree in social sciences or a related field- Minimum of three years relevant experience- Knowledge of best practices related to equity-seeking populations and groups- Demonstrated experience working with interracial, intercultural, intersectional, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed perspectives- In-depth knowledge of the reality of equity-seeking communities- Knowledge and experience in the approaches and methods of operational management- Knowledge of crisis management, conflict resolution practices and emergency management protocols- Knowledge of the Canadian Human Rights Act and applicable laws and regulations- Knowledge of financial management principles- Knowledge of human resource management principles- Valid First Aid and CPR certifications issued by a recognized organization in Canada- Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written)- Demonstrated leadership skills including problem-solving- Aptitude and experience in customer service (listening, empathy, reconciliation, patience and interpersonal skills) and ability to communicate with respect, tact and
