**What You Will Do**

In this position, you will primarily focus on supporting the Boreal Conservation Programs team, managing projects and relationships with industry partners to advance wetland conservation and stewardship activities within the working forest. Responsibilities will include fostering relationships, providing expertise in boreal wetland ecology, hydrology and carbon cycling dynamics, and developing communication and outreach materials.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

- Leading projects and partnerships with industry partners such as literature reviews, stewardship plans, development and communication of best management practices, etc.
- Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships
- Identifying funding opportunities, developing proposals, and executing conservation projects.
- Participating in wetlands training events and developing course materials relating to upcoming topics of interest such as wetland soil carbon cycling
- Leading/participating in meetings, workshops, webinars and conferences
- Assist in continuing education and communication activities including presentations at workshops and short courses, field demonstrations, etc.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum BSc in forestry, ecology, hydrology, or natural resource management field; MSc and a professional designation in a related discipline would be an asset.
- Knowledge of the concept of sustainable forest management, experience with forest industry planning and operations and an understanding of forest certifications.
- Excellent project management skills, including experience:

- pursuing funding for projects
- developing projects plans
- managing contracts
- ensuring proper government required permits are in place and followed
- managing budgets and timelines to meet targets
- leading/directing/participating in (external/internal) communications
- executing deliverables, including project reporting
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills, and ability to review and interpret legislation and scientific literature.
- Strong problem-solving skills with advanced cognitive skills and emotional intelligence to facilitate and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license.

**Assets**
- Experience building relationships with Indigenous communities
- Familiar with ArcGIS software, statistical analysis software
- Experience with scientific instruments such as wildlife cameras, autonomous recording units, dataloggers, met stations, drones, etc.
- Experience with digital media content creation (e.g., designing infographics, editing videos), developing project marketing, and science communication products.

**Position Details**:2-Year Fixed Term
**Salary Range**:$65,100 - $81,400. Salary is based on a 35-hour work week.
