Hi there, we’re Street Haven.

We’re a dynamic women’s multi-service agency that provides shelter, supportive housing, training supports, and addictions therapy to vulnerable women in Toronto. Street Haven established Canada’s first women’s shelter in 1968, and for nearly 60 years we’ve made an impact in the lives of thousands of women.

**The Role**

We’re looking for an experienced Event Planner/Coordinator to help us with various events throughout the year. This is an opportunity to show off your organization skills and make a difference in the lives of women who need it most. You’ll work directly for our Executive Director and support her efforts to create memorable and successful events.

**Responsibilities**

Event Preparation
- Support the Executive Director in the planning and execution of Street Haven events.
- Attend in person planning meetings ahead of the event.
- Contact corporate sponsors, local businesses, responsible for event planning and logistics, and help address additional tasks as they pop up.

Day-of Coordination
- Take ownership and responsibility of the event: be on-site to set up, align with the on-site team, tear down, clean site areas, problem-solve, and ensure high-quality customer experience.
- Be the Street Haven representative, leader, and problem solver at events.
- Manage check-in process; provide a warm and friendly welcome to participants.
- Problem-solve issues such as missing supplies, late staff, technology challenges, etc.
- Escalate issues to the Executive Director when necessary, keep her informed, help problem solve.
- Breakdown after events, helping to clean the site and repackage and ship all materials back to the distribution centre when necessary.

**Requirements**:

- 3 years experience in event planning
- Strong communication skills
- Confident and reassuring while engaging with corporate sponsors and external stakeholders
- Schedule flexibility with availability to work on a contract
- Resourcefulness, the ability to exhibit grace and calm under pressure, be solutions-minded in ambiguous situations
- Quick thinker, and can problem solve on the fly
- Self-starter who is organized and detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Able to wear many hats and take on varied tasks and projects
- Comfort being present and interacting with large crowds

**How We Work**

This is a full-time role, beginning immediately at 40 hours per week. Note that this role will involve some work on weekends due to event dates.

**Where we work**

This role is based in Downtown Toronto, at 87 Pembroke Street.
