**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Integrative Health Services and working closely with students, Academic Coordinators are professors who, in addition to their teaching responsibilities, provide academic leadership in the coordination of courses and/or programs to ensure curriculum quality, relevance and currency, a positive learning experience for students, and effective communications amongst colleagues to achieve the College’s strategic and operational goals.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Recognizing that academic coordination is complex and diverse depending on the courses/program, typical duties are outlined in AOP 213 (see Appendix A) and fall broadly into the following categories:

**Qualifications**:

- Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience with Acupuncture
- Demonstrated experience (at least 2 years) in curriculum development or instructional design, ideally in health sciences or a related field.
- Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated involvement in professional acupuncture or curriculum development organizations is an asset.

**Skills & Knowledge**
- In-depth knowledge of acupuncture theory, techniques, and standards of practice, as well as familiarity with Traditional Chinese Medicine principles.
- Commitment to staying current in the field of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as educational best practices.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development methodologies, including competency-based education, outcomes assessment, and student-centered learning.
- Proficiency in developing clinical and practical lab-based content for acupuncture programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Experience with online and blended learning modalities, including proficiency with e-learning platforms and digital content creation.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex clinical concepts into accessible curriculum content.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to coordinate with faculty, academic leadership, and clinical experts to ensure curriculum alignment with program goals and regulatory requirements.
- Experience fostering a rich learning environment and creative teaching and evaluation methods, incorporating a variety of teaching methodologies and technologies.
- Ability to communicate clearly, articulating program expectations, and responding to faculty and student needs
- A proven ability to work within a collaborative environment, including effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills to provide functional guidance and support to the program team
