**POSITION**: RN #113

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Under the direction of the Director of Resident Services directs the Personal Care Home nursing units with an aim to quality care; identifies needs of individual residents and develops a nursing care plan to ensure comprehensive care; oversees nursing care and provides direct nursing care as needed based on the care plan, medical orders, Park Manor Care Resident Bill of Rights, Mission Statement, nursing objectives and policies, WRHA/Manitoba Health standards, and provincial nursing regulations; assigns tasks; provides guidance to and evaluates the work performed by other nursing team members to ensure high quality of care and optimum utilization of staff; maintains accurate, appropriate, informative records of nursing observations, health conditions and care given; communicates effectively with management, staff, family and visitors; assumes responsibility for the facility in the absence of Senior Management; responds to East Park Lodge calls.

1. Registered Nurse with current Manitoba Registration (C.R.N.M.)

2. Good verbal, written and computer communication skills.

3. Effective leadership and supervisory skills.

4. Relates well with staff, residents, and visitors.

5. Ability to work independently (within the guidelines/policies/procedures of Park Manor).

6. Knowledge of nursing and medical practice/procedures and laws and how they relate to long term care.

7. Willingness to report to and take direction from the Director of Care concerning all work-related matters.

8. Ability to use Minimum Data Set (MDS) for resident information and care planning.

9. Good health and the ability to work in stressful situations.

1. Authority to assign scheduled nursing staff as needed.

2. Authority to plan and deliver nursing care for residents in support of nursing philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures and consistent with CRNM/CRPNM standards.

3. Authority to address staff and unit concerns in an appropriate manner

Responsible to the Director of Resident Services. Responsible to ensure the delivery of care to residents is carried out in compliance with MB Health Standards and the policies and procedures of WRHA and Park Manor Care. Responsible to ensure physicians’ orders are carried out. Accountable for the delivery of direct nursing care for all residents and provides leadership for the nursing team members who work under their supervision in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct care services

**RESPONSIBILITIES ON FIRST AND SECOND FLOORS**:
Staff Replacements

Ensure transfer sheets are completed for following day appointments

Follow up on all admission paperwork
- Chart
- Med Rec
- Addressographs

Prepare paperwork for quarterly med reviews

Review lab results and follow up re same

Conduct 1st or 2nd check of the monthly MARS

Prepare bloodwork paperwork for the month

Check med room for:

- Expired medications
- Ward stock items

Conduct random med room audits

Conduct med pass audits as required

Replenish dressing carts

Replace documents in charts:

- IPNs
- Order Sheets
- Doctors’ Orders

Prepare for weekly care conference with evening staff to ensure completed

Prepare for weekly Integrated Care Plan meetings with evening staff to ensure completed

Prepare for weekly care conference with evening staff to ensure completed

Check nursing supply room to ensure adequate supply and inform Nursing Clerk if items need to be replaced

Follow up with wound care items

Assist with paperwork for resident transfer documentation if a resident needs to be sent to hospital

Assist with paperwork for a return transfer from hospital

Conduct skin assessments as needed

Follow up on End of Life monitoring

Ensure End of Life kits are appropriately stocked

Assist staff nurses in addressing staff, resident and family concerns

Ensure routines are being followed
