We are looking for an individual to lead our transmission workforce to enable a modern, clean power grid, and deliver a better experience for our customers. SaskPower expects to launch an extra high voltage (EHV) AC and DC transmission system within the province to support the development of large-scale wind and solar renewable generation preparing us for a net zero future. The Director is responsible to lead, develop, and motivate the team to support and manage the existing transmission system, improving the reliability and safety of our grid, while preparing our workforce and organization to implement a new EHV backbone throughout the province.

Reporting to the Vice President, Transmission & Distribution, the Director of Transmission Lines will be accountable for the safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation and maintenance of the transmission system. You will be fully responsible to plan, organize, direct, and control the operational functions of the team with a focus on aligning departmental efforts to SaskPower’s strategic goals and objectives. The Director is expected to flourish in defining and managing change with respect to people, processes, and technology.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Support SaskPower’s safety culture focused on a continuous learning environment. You will achieve safety improvement through the focus on Serious Injury Frequency reductions and the “Safety Absolutes” core to our safety culture.
- Foster high standards of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental stewardship by modelling safe behaviour in accordance with SaskPower’s safety principles and values, ensuring the maintenance of workplace safety standards and conducting hazard and risk assessments;
- Accountable for delivering SaskPower’s Business Objectives focused on safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and environmental performance, in order to meet or exceed customer and stakeholder expectations;
- Develop a robust talent pool and maintain a plan for employee cross-training, development, continuity, succession and engagement as it relates to operational aspects, as well as supporting SaskPower’s diversity plan;
- Proactively manage and develop all direct reports, ensuring they provide timely feedback and guidance;
- Implement a strong performance planning and feedback system, that aligns with corporate strategies and performance metrics, and promotes responsibility;
- Demonstrate a team-focused approach and operate independently in a complex or matrix environment;
- Maintain a succession plan for key management positions and critical roles;
- Ensure that career development plans are prepared and maintained for high potential employees;

- Allocate material, human and financial resources in order to implement corporate policies and programs, including the establishment of financial and administrative controls
- Conduct and participate in strategic planning sessions in isolation or in conjunction with senior leadership in order to set measurable targets for the department
