Interior Health has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Aboriginal Employment Advisor to join our team Employee Experience team.

**The worksite location for this position is flexible and can be located anywhere within British Columbia.**
Travel is a requirement of this position.

**How will you create an impact?**

**Some Key Duties may include**:

- Answers Aboriginal applicant and employee questions concerning details about different career paths. Delivers and arranges for seminars and workshops to educate Aboriginal peoples who are exploring a healthcare career path on options available. Facilitates or arranges for workshops on a broad variety of career-development and workplace culture topics.
- In conjunction with the Aboriginal Recruiter, develops and implements tactics to increase the profile of IH to Aboriginal communities, employment agencies and other Aboriginal-serving organizations. Undertakes to engage and partner with Aboriginal stakeholders around employment initiatives and to attract Aboriginal people to the spectrum of employment opportunities within IH.
- Participates in initiatives that promote diversity and Aboriginal cultural awareness within the organization in collaboration with Recruitment, Aboriginal Health and other departments.
- Assists in the development of culturally sensitive employment materials targeting Aboriginal applicants and employees.
- Promotes Aboriginal self-identification to Aboriginal job seekers and employees to support reporting metrics.
- Alongside the Recruitment Team, represents the organization at events such as Aboriginal career fairs, on-campus recruiting and other community functions.
- Performs administrative duties such as follow-up communications and documentation/data tracking, case management, periodic reports, and activity updates.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Education, Training, and Experience**:

- A relevant undergraduate degree
- A minimum of three years of recent, related experience (e.g., experience working with Indigenous communities, experience in recruiting, experience coaching/supporting employment skills, experience in writing proposals/reports)

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Extensive knowledge of Aboriginal communities and resources, ideally those in BC’s interior region.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the success factors for Indigenous cultural competency as gained through education, training and/or experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to write or edit high quality business documents.
- Excellent oral communication skills, facilitation skills, conflict resolution skills, public speaking ability, and active listening skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize tasks and effective decision-making ability.
- Ability to communicate in writing, including writing briefs, proposals and reports.
- Ability to take initiative; work independently and with limited supervision while being a member of a team.
- Ability to deal with personal and confidential matters appropriately.
- Valid Drivers' license to facilitate travel to communities across the Interior region.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
