Responsible for fulfilling the principles and requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (“FIPPA”) which includes processing and analyzing requests for information, mediating request for review with the Information and Privacy Commissioner, as well as addressing arising issues of FIPPA compliance.

**Essential Duties**
- Manages all aspects of assigned cases in a manner prescribed by the Section including research, analysis, and disclosure of information as well as mediation of released information with the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC.
- Disseminates information to assist in meeting section and Departmental objectives of access to information and privacy.
- Locates (researches) and conducts analysis for discretionary and mandatory exceptions to disclosure related to the responsive information retrieved
- Locates (researches) and conducts analysis for Ordered disclosure and applies applicable disclosure criteria to the responsive information.
- Synthesizes and presents FOI documentation in a written format that meets legislated requirements, and maintains the integrity of sensitive or ongoing investigations
- Acts as a resource person to police members, government agencies and the community on access to information queries.
- Ensures that any release of information conforms with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, any other applicable legislation, Rules of Court and VPD policies and procedures
- Maintains a positive and effective working relationship with internal and/or external business partners
- Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**:
REQUIRED:

- Advanced knowledge of FOIPPA legislation
- High Level knowledge of applicable legislation and rules related to disclosure of information, including personal information
- High knowledge of Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat Professional
- Ability to handle a heavy ongoing workload and exercise sound judgement
- Ability to keep information confidential
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment Ability to compile, maintain and control a variety of records and information

PREFERRED:

- Working knowledge of police information systems (e.g. PRIME Query/Browse, CPIC).
- Working knowledge of Quality Control criteria such as role coding and UCR standards

- Diploma or Degree in Criminology or relevant discipline or equivalent work experience in the field.

PREFERRED:

- Recognized Certification Training such as IAPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional or Certified Information Privacy Manager - CIPP/C or CIPM).

**OTHER REQUIREMENT(S)**:

- All employees must maintain their Enhanced Security Clearance while employed with the Vancouver Police Department. Enhanced Security Clearances will be renewed every 5 years.
