**Manager of Technology Services**:

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices the culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59,000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties, an area of 5,250 square kilometres and a total of 23 schools.

**Reports to**: Coordinator of Technology Integration and Data Management

**Employee Group**: Non Union

**Schedule**: 7 hours per day

**Status & Wage**: Permanent position - $68,300/yr to $74,600/yr

**Qualifications**:

- Degree or diploma in a Technology related field
- Experience supervising and working collaboratively with unionized staff
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a School Region technology environment or equivalent
- Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
- Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
- Project management experience is considered an asset
- A valid N.S. driver’s license is required, as well as regular access to a reliable vehicle

**Task Dimensions**:
In collaboration with the Coordinator, plans, implements and maintains technical and computer related information systems. For example:

- Assisting in analyzing the technology requirements of the Region. This includes both hardware requirements and in-house software development requirements.
- Coordinating testing of new hardware and software and making recommendations on appropriate configurations.
- Designing, installing and maintaining appropriate Local Area Networks (LAN’s), wired or wireless, for school environments, including topology, multi-media requirements, network and client operating systems, server, client and connectivity hardware, shared network resources, Internet connectivity, security and backup policies.
- Assisting in the purchasing of CCTV cabling, cameras, and controller hardware and software.
- Monitoring security of all technology and making recommendations to secure environments, where necessary.
- Acting both proactively and reactively to define and resolve network problems and recognizing and pursuing opportunities for improved LAN/WAN services.
- Assisting school staff in the decision-making process regarding technology use by participating in school-based Technology Committees.
- Maintaining a continuous on-line inventory of computer and related equipment to fulfill Region and Department of Education reporting requirements and equipment needs.
- Meeting and providing regular reports at an interval determined by the Coordinator detailing the tasks performed and current status of the Region’s Technology projects.
- Conducting regular monthly team meetings with the Operations Departments and the Programs and Student Services Department to track progress on projects, discuss technical issues and provide professional development to ensure that current practices are updated as required.
- Communicating with the Department of Education concerning technology matters and representing the SSRCE on various provincial level technology-related committees as required.
- Assisting with the planning and monitoring the technology budget.
- Coordinating the transportation of technology, for example: new technology, technology requiring repairs and electronic waste.
- Participating in professional development activities as required.
- Maintaining a good knowledge of technology-related trends in education and suggesting innovative uses of technology in our schools.
- Manages the designated school-based Information Technology Support Specialists, for example:

- Monitoring the workload of the Information Technology Support Specialists via the Work Order system and ensuring that requests are fulfilled on timely basis by temporarily reassigning personnel as needed in case of vacation and illness.
- Conducting regular annual performance evaluations of the Information Technology Support Specialists, with consultation of the Coordinator.
- Conducts regular monthly team meetings with the Information Technology Support Specialists to track progress on projects, discuss technical issues and provide professional development to ensure that current practices are updated as required.
- Providing direction and support to the Information Technology Support Specialists in the execution of their duties.
- Assisting the Coordinator with staffing vacant technology positions and organizing professional development of the Technology staff.
- Working cooperatively with Principals and the Human Resources department
