**Course number and title**:ESS1101H1F -Seminars in Earth Sciences

**Course description**:This is the core graduate course designed to help the student develop their scientific presentation skills. During the term, students will be required to deliver at least two oral presentations on assigned topics, and provide critique for the presentation of other students in the course. The course is given on a pass/fail basis, and will meet weekly in the Fall term.

**Salary**:
Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90

Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term: $9,930.79

Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,326.62

Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,570.02

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

**Minimum Qualifications**: Completed PhD in Earth Sciences or a closely related field is required. In exceptional cases, a M.Sc. may be accepted.

**Preferred Qualifications**: Experience teaching geosciences at the university level will be an asset. Experience teaching online preferred.

**Description of duties**: Planning and delivering lecturers and tutorials; developing and administering grading, course assignments, tests, and exams; providing scheduled office hours for academic counselling of students.
