Accounting Supervisor

The Dufresne Group is currently seeking an **Accounting Supervisor** within our **Home Office** located at **147 Commerce Drive** in **Winnipeg, MB**.**
As an Accounting Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Accountants and assisting in preparing Company financials, ensuring that all revenues, expenses, and balance sheet items are recorded appropriately, and performing analysis on results compared to budget/forecast and prior periods. You will also enhance the department by building a solid team of Accountants, implementing process, system, and internal control improvements, and assisting with budget/forecast development.

As the Accounting Supervisor you will:
- Plan for and oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including the year-end audit and the preparation of internal financial statements.
- Analyze operating results against budget and prior periods and provide the business units with insights and recommendations to improve their financial performance and decision-making.
- Prepare monthly financial summaries, operational reports, and other ad hoc reports for management.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and related sub-ledgers to ensure accurate records.
- Review and approve adjusting journal entries for accruals, prepaid, fixed asset depreciation, etc.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and a system of internal controls.
- Complete regulatory and other required external reporting to financial institutions, landlords and others as needed within designated timelines.
- Remain current on new accounting issues/guidance to ensure compliance with ASPE and GAAP.
- Mentor, train, and motivate the accounting team to deliver a high level of performance.
- Collaborate with the other Senior Accountants to support department goals and objectives.
- Assist in developing and overseeing the department’s performance against KPIs.
- Identify and action opportunities to improve department processes, productivity and systems, and lead project work as assigned.
- Support the completion of the annual budget process and coordinate information gathering.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) with at least three years of related accounting experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing people.
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills, high accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of the accounting team to meet the Company's financial objectives.
- Proficient in MS Office products, with advanced Excel skills and the ability to learn in-house computer programs.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills, high accuracy, and attention to detail.
- A Criminal Record Check will be required.
