Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager to join our team in transforming mental health and substance use services for youth. The Manager of Equity and Engagement works under the direction of the YWHO Clinical Practice Lead and closely collaborates with the YWHO Integration & Implementation and Evaluation teams. The Manager will also work alongside the YWHO Strategy team to ensure equity and engagement activities inform YWHO’s provincial strategy and to ensure equity and engagement are embedded in the implementation of YWHO’s strategic priorities. The Manager Equity and Engagement will lead the integration of equity and engagement planning and action within the YWHO PO and alongside YWHO hubs across the province. This role will bring advanced expertise of health equity in a youth centred environment, to advance the practice of youth and family engagement and the integration of anti-racist, anti-oppressive and de-colonial principles and practices throughout the work of YWHO. **Responsibilities**:

- Lead the development and implementation of equity and engagement frameworks for YWHO overall, in alignment with YWHO’s Strategic Plan and working closely with YWHO PO staff, YWHO Hubs, and youth and family advisories, to ensure the frameworks are rooted in de-colonial theories and practice, informed by relevant research, and reflective of the diverse perspectives and voices of the YWHO network.
- Provide leadership, guidance and direct supervision to YWHO’s Equity and Engagement team and help define the vision for and approaches to placing equity and lived experience at the heart of YWHO’s work.
- Demonstrate understanding and recognition of Ontario’s Health Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Anti-Racism Strategies while engaging external practice networks, provincial organizations and service delivery partners, to share knowledge related to equity and engagement at local, regional and national levels.
- Collaborate across YWHO PO to shape and plan content development for a wide range of orientations, trainings, workshops, and more. Work closely with diverse stakeholders to ensure YWHO promotes best practices in equity and engagement work.
- Work with the Director of Data Management and Evaluation and the Clinical Practice Lead to uncover patterns of client responses and needs in the youth populations and their families to optimize health outcomes across the YWHO Network.
- Provide advice and expertise across YWHO PO on projects and initiatives when expert equity and engagement input is required.

**Qualifications**:

- A master’s degree in health sciences, diversity, equity studies, gender studies, health policy, public health, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in mental health and substance use services for youth with a focus on equity and engagement programs and services
- Extensive knowledge of approaches that promote health equity, including anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice, 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion, community engagement, cultural safety, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and human rights and accessibility frameworks.
- Experience using and coaching others to use, tools, processes and best practices related to health equity, including the Health Equity Impact Assessment tool.
- Direct experience leading or supporting the engagement of young people and family members with lived experience, preferably in a mental health/substance use context.
- Prior experience working with communities experiencing systemic marginalization in a health system, hospital or community-based mental health context.
- Familiarity with developing and implementing project-level plans and processes, as well as higher-level strategies and frameworks.
- Experience in assisting teams with system change initiatives through facilitation, problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution

**Assets**:

- Skills related to training and capacity building design and delivery would be an asset.
- Demonstrated skill and confidence with using virtual technology as a means of engagement, supervision and implementation of projects.
- Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset

**Please Note**: This full-time, permanent position is NOT part of any bargaining unit.
