**Finance Mandate**:
The financial analyst role is an important role across the finance portfolio, ensuring all processes and system technology is efficient and working to support stakeholders, customers, vendors, and employees. These positions have key relationships across the NSH with Clinical & Administrative Managers and Directors, to support financial, payroll, budget and cost decisions. They are assigned functional accountabilities to align with departments:
- financial analysis support to managers/directors on budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis;
- corporate reporting expertise on reporting, accounting, capital funding, tax, treasury and internal controls;
- budget and revenue analysis, supporting the Business Planning process, implementation and ongoing maintenance of budget and revenue generation/ monitoring
Reporting to the Manager research, restricted & continuing care department the financial analyst is responsible to provide analytical support to corporate activities serviced by the finance portfolio (Budget, Variance Analysis, Forecasting, Reporting, etc.), transactional processing centres (Accounts Receivable, Payroll, etc ) and support to NSH leaders (Directors, Managers, Physician Leaders, etc.).
The Analyst is responsible for the creation, management and dissemination of accurate and timely reports and analysis for their department/service/zone. The Analyst provides proactive expertise and advice in conducting analysis and developing recommendations to support business decision making in each zone, improve performance, reduce risks and assisting in the developing of business cases to support improvements.
**About the Opportunity**:
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deliver high quality customer service to Directors, Managers, Physician Leaders, and other stakeholders across NSH
- Support Senior Leaders in understanding financial results and issues
- Monthly financial forecasting and variance analysis
- Identify opportunities to strengthen, automate, and standardize business processes
- Collaborate with various teams to develop and implement process improvements
- Advise on budgetary and spending decisions to help achieve financial goals
- Consults and advises clients on all aspects of managing budgets. This includes assisting with, identifying and researching issues, as well as providing options and recommending solutions.
- Provides financial education for clients through delivery of regular workshops, group and individual training sessions
- Conduct analysis to deepen understanding of cost drivers and financial variances
- Perform various month end accounting duties and cost center maintenance
- Contribute to business case development and financial proposals
- Present financial results & analysis
**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary business and/or accounting program (Undergraduate degree preferred)
- Enrolment or completion of CPA designation considered an asset
- Minimum two (2) to four (4) years' strong financial and accounting experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, sumifs, organizing data sets, etc. )
- Advanced technology skills considered an asset (SAP, SQL, Tableau, VBA, macros)
- Experience with research an asset
- Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- High degree of curiosity with strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual thinking skills
- Strong organizational skills, reliable, autonomous and keen sense of initiative
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced dynamic team environment
- Ability to identify trends and developments from financial data and other evidence
- Ability to conceptualize and implement innovative analytical tools, processes, and solutions
