The youth facilitator will primarily be responsible for facilitating after school programs for the purpose of helping newcomer children/youth develop and strengthen academic, physical and social skills. They will be responsible for providing activities such as arts craft, life skills, recreational activities, workshops etc.

**Job responsibilities**:

- Working in partnership with the demonstration school assigned to deliver programs that have positive impacts for students, families and the school.
- Running a variety of after school programs including; In Person 1-1 Mentoring, In Person Group Programs
- Engaging children and families to participate in the programming services we offer.Plan, supervise, implement, and evaluate children and youth-centered activitiesDelivering programming equipped towards immigrant and refugee youth.
- Lead specialized activities in program areas such as wellness, arts & crafts, social skill building, educational activities, team building, games and/or creative challenges, life skills, technology related activities, etc.
- Providing a safe, engaging and positive environment for children and families.
- Building relationships with program partners, in order to understand child, youth and community issues/trends within their area.
- Facilitate engaging and interactive educational activities for children
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans
- Encourage active participation and critical thinking among children
- Foster social and emotional development through group activities
- Provide guidance and support to children during activities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
- Supporting children and youth who are in process or waiting to be involved in a program through

monthly activities, group opportunities and additional resources.
- Day-to-day organization and operation at the assigned site including on-site supervision of program staff, participants and volunteers.
- Develops positive relations with the communities being served through the program and with the general public.

**Education and Experience Requirements**:

- **Ability to speak fluently both in Spanish or Tagalog is a strong asset.**
- 2-3 years combined experience in a role involved with child and youth programming.
- Experience in child and youth program development, implementation and assessment.
- The ability to work effectively with children and youth, manage behaviors and have a solid understanding of child and youth issues.
- Previous experience in an afterschool program setting.
- Experience using virtual platforms to deliver programming is an asset.
- Demonstrated good communication skills (both written and oral).
- Proficient with Microsoft office, Google
- Ability to work evenings (until 6:00 PM) -Total 13.5 hours per week.
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle.
- Must provide a Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Experience working with children in an educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage a group of children
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices
- Creativity and adaptability in designing educational activities
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children
