The Ministry has the following responsibilities: develop curriculum and set standards; evaluate curriculum and assess outcomes; teacher development and certification; supports students with diverse learning needs.
**The Office of the Registrar** is responsible for overseeing and regulating teacher certification for all teachers in Alberta, addressing the intake and post-decision elements of teacher and teacher leader complaint process, and ensuring the accuracy of the Teacher Workforce Information System and public-facing Teacher and Teacher Leader Registry.
**Role Responsibilities**:

The Practice Assurance Advisor supports the Practice Assurance Manager in delivering items such as processing Online Teacher/Teacher Leader Registry exemptions and documents for posting, certification reviews, research and analysis for legislation, policies, programs, and initiatives related to teacher/teacher leader workforce development. This position provides information, analysis, and recommendations to the Minister of Education in reaching decisions related to the Teaching and Leadership Excellence sector.
The Practice Assurance Advisor is expected to:
- Prepare and manage Teacher and Teacher Leader discipline documents, including preparing briefings and related correspondence for Minister's decisions in teacher and teacher leader discipline matters.
- Manage discipline records and prepare records for posting to the Online Teacher/Teacher Leader Registry.
- Review and provide recommendations on Registry exemptions for validity and completeness.
- Process Notices of Action from other jurisdictions in relation to teacher records.
- Oversee Board of Reference appeal requests and maintain appeal appointment processes.
- Process ATA election requests including collecting documents, providing recommendations, and responding to applicants and the ATA as required. Participate in Office of the Registrar policy and legislative reviews.Please

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Recruitment Standards**
University graduation in a related field (Education, Public Administration, etc.), plus 4 years of related experience or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.The Practice Assurance Advisor requires experience and knowledge of:
- Regulated professions and/or regulatory compliance processes.
- Analytical skills to define complex and diverse matters and develop appropriate actions for consideration.Assets:
- Human Resource Management.
- Early education childhood to grade 12 education system in Alberta, specifically legislation, policy and practices related to teacher/teacher leader growth, supervision, evaluation, and discipline.
