Do you have a passion for knowledge and excellent interpersonal and computer skills? Oakville Public Library has seven library branches that are dedicated to serving the diverse community of Oakville. In this role, you’ll work within the Collection Development department to order, receive and maintain library materials.

**What you'll do**
**As an Acquisitions Assistant you will**:

- Create and maintain new library material orders in all formats using ILS Acquisitions module and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI); manually creating orders for special collections
- Download, review and verify MARC Records from vendors
- Receive new materials in the Acquisitions module, stream materials to processing and cataloguing staff for adjustments
- Receive donations and/or government materials/municipal documents, enter into Acquisitions module, stream to processing and cataloguing staff as required
- Run Claims reports in Acquisitions module according to schedule, communicating issues with internal staff and with vendors as needed
- Contact vendors to claim outstanding items such as periodicals or to cancel orders, as required
- Download or input invoices into Symphony Acquisitions module, approve and submit invoices for final payment to Accounts Payable department
- Assist with other assigned initiatives and special projects as needed

- Display strong computer skills including data entry
- Demonstrate knowledge of MARC Standards and MARC editing tools
- Experience with an Integrated Library System’s (ILS) Acquisitions, Serials and Circulation modules, Symphony experience considered an asset.
- Knowledge of acquisitions tools such as FTP and EDI
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel

**Your experience and educational background**:

- Library and Information Technician diploma with minimum 2 years library experience
