Assessment accommodation

**Duties**:
The job includes planning, coordination and managing the development and delivery of Visitor Experience programs, services and activities in Nahʔą Dehé.

The position manages a dedicated team of staff who are passionate about their work. The area of responsibility includes: visitor reception and merchandise, interpretation, visitor management at Náįlįcho including interpretive guided hikes and evening campfire programs, product development, relationships with Indigenous communities and business licence holders. The primary tourist season is in the summer, many staff on this team work seasonally.

The job is on the management team and will work collaboratively to meet challenges and opportunities including: leading visitor experience projects/initiatives; formulating strategies to advance the visitor offer; collaborating with the rest of the management team on setting direction for Nahʔą Dehé and addressing emergent issues as they arise.

**Work environment**:
Nahʔą Dehé is managed by way of the Ndahecho Gondié Gháádé Agreement, which is a renewed shared governance model between Parks Canada and the Nahʔą Dehé and Dehcho Dene. This new Agreement builds on 20 years of cooperative management and this relationship is a practical example of a shared approach for making gains in Reconciliation and Nation-to-Nation relationships.

Annual average visitation in Nahʔą Dehé is approximately 800 visitors. Visitors access the park by float plane and will rock climb in the Cirque of the Unclimbables, or paddle the rivers including the South Nahanni River a Canadian Heritage River, or make a day-flight seeing tour with local air charter companies. Park staff rotate on shifts in-residence at remote fly-in locations in the park where they will provide orientation, safety information, and interpretative programs for visitors. We provide a high standard of care and service to visitors who are on their once-in-a-lifetime trip to a UNESCO World Heritage Site and world-renowned wilderness park.

The visitor experience manager is expected to carry out the following activities in line with the Agency’s policies and guidelines:

- Working with Indigenous organizations and individuals;
- Financial management for procurement, contracting, planning and reporting;
- Hiring, performance management and training/development of team members;
- Demonstrating leadership in a variety of team settings;
- Partnering and engagement to support organizational outcomes; and,
- Exercising good judgement and critical thinking.

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized educational institution with specialization in business administration, marketing, recreation, leisure studies, communication or other discipline relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training, experience and Nahʔą Dehé Dene and Dehcho Dene traditional knowledge.

OR
- An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered if you do not have a degree or diploma. For example, relevant experience and career advancement in a recreation, tourism and/or business organization that includes at least two years of management experience.
