**Position Summary**
This is your opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families Families First is a non-profit organization located in Fort Saskatchewan providing support to community members and families from a prevention and early intervention perspective. Our mission: Through improving the lives of our children, youth, and families today, we help create a resilient, healthy community for tomorrow.

Working within the FRN team, the Family Wellness Worker/Home Visitor will provide outreach support to families in their homes and deliver psychoeducational groups in the communities of Fort Saskatchewan and Sturgeon Region.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Build healthy relationships with families, community and the Families First team
- Develop and deliver psycho-educational group programming to meet caregiver and child development needs
- Build hope and resilience in families and our team
- Work effectively both within a team and independently
- Support families and children in their homes and community
- Support caregiver - child attachment
- Use Ages and Stages Questionnaire to support optimal development and supports
- Engage caregivers and children in capacity building
- Support caregivers to navigate complicated systems
- Report trends and gaps in services to Families First team
- Advocate for families to access the supports they require
- Build knowledge and awareness of the Fort Saskatchewan and Sturgeon Region communities
- Build collaborative partnerships
- Coordinate care

**Qualities and Qualifications**
- Diploma or degree in human services field; or significant work-related experience
- Registration with your regulatory body if applicable
- At least 2 years of experience supporting children and families
- Triple P, Circle of Security Parenting, Kids Have Stress Too considered an asset
- Solid knowledge of brain science, attachment theory, child development, trauma, and resiliency
- Empathetic and passionate about supporting families and community
- Anti-oppressive lens
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to provide criminal record check and intervention record check
- Willingness to embrace the culture and values of Families First Society
- Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action

**Compensation package**:

- This position is supported by training through Families First and Alberta Home Visitation Network Association
- Families First believes that a healthy team is needed to support healthy families; to that end, we provide robust health and wellness support:
◦ 2 weeks paid time off during Winter holiday season

◦ Regular reflective supervision and ongoing support

◦ Regular consultation and debrief sessions with a Mental Health Therapist

◦ Healthy paid sick time policy
- Due to this position being a temporary contract (with potential to move to permanent), we are unable to offer benefits and vacation at this time; in lieu of paid vacation and benefits the salary range is as follows:
◦ Base rate $20 - $25 per hour (+ 4% in lieu of vacation + 11% in lieu of benefits for a total of
**$23 -$28.75 per hour**)
