JOB SUMMARY
- As a member of the Digital Lab, an integrated unit of BC Children’s Hospital and the UBC Department of Pediatrics, the Research Asst/Tech 1 will provide general support across a broad range of initiatives.- ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS- Structurally, the Digital Lab is an integrated unit with UBC Department of Pediatrics and BC Children's Hospital (BCCH), accountable to both the University and Provincial Health Services Authority. This position will report to a functional lead and/or other senior staff member, working closely with other members across the Lab (and broader community of collaborators/researchers).WORK PERFORMED-
- Assists in various routine tasks across a range of digital initiatives such as basic web content maintenance.
- Assists in data collection, data entry, and administrative tasks such as inputting or changing text or content structure [as prescribed].
- Maintains equipment, assets, and up-to-date knowledge of technology techniques and tools.
- Performs other duties related to the position as required, expected at a junior entry-level role.
- These are junior, entry-level, often routine and repetitive technical tasks, done under close supervision.- CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR- Errors made could influence the ability of administrative research staff to meet critical deadlines, as well as compromise the results of projects, and therefore impact the credibility of the Digital Lab.- SUPERVISION RECEIVED- Works under the supervision of a Functional Lead and/or a senior staff member.- SUPERVISION GIVEN- None.- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High School graduation. Minimum of 1 year of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own. Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- High degree of computer literacy with a willingness to develop further competency in this area. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to determine the nature and urgency of inquiries and issues, and triage appropriately. Ability to work effectively with mínimal supervision. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to be thorough, accurate, and have a high level of attention to detail. Ability to make thoughtful, informed, and thorough decisions. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to identify and relate to concerns of others and to exercise judgement when resolving difficulties. Ability to use discretion in seeking input from supervisors.
