Seeking an individual to join the lab of Dr. Sarah Crome as a Research Technician within the Ajmera Transplant Centre at Toronto General Hospital Research Institute and the Department of Immunology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Crome’s research program is focused on identifying mechanisms of immune tolerance and developing immunotherapies for transplantation and autoimmunity. There is a particular interest in understanding the role of specialized tissue resident immune cells in immune tolerance and developing ways to harness these lymphocytes in novel therapies. The research team is comprised of scientifically enthusiastic individuals who value diversity and supports each other’s individual goals.

**Key responsibilities will include the following**:

- Performing experiments under the supervision of the principle investigator, which will include cell culture, flow cytometry and animal models.
- Processing of patient samples including human tissues and blood.
- Preparing lentiviral vectors, maintaining molecular biology stocks and performing cloning experiments
- Responsible for coordinating and performing assigned routine standard testing.
- Responsible for ensuring reagent supplies are replenished.
- Ensures that cleaning procedures, calibration and/or validation of equipment is performed regularly.
- Aid in generating SOPs, maintaining accurate records of procedures, animals, and inventories.
- Attending and participating in laboratory meetings.
- Training or assisting graduate students in laboratory techniques as appropriate.
- Participating in data analysis

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Minimum B.Sc plus experience in a research setting (3+ years). M.Sc or additional education in immunology, biological sciences or other related discipline an asset.
- Experience in following techniques is an asset: flow cytometry, tissue staining, humanized mouse models, processing patient samples (tissue and blood), working with lentivirus or other viral vectors, molecular cloning and good manufacturing practices.
- Self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and willingness to work closely with other members of the team.
- Computer skills: Microsoft office proficiency, experience with Graphpad prism,Adobe illustrator, Flowjo or R an asset.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills.
