Cat Volunteer Manager

We are searching for an enthused volunteer manager to champion our **Cat Volunteer Program**. The volunteer manager will manage the **Cat Shelter Volunteer Team i**ncluding recruitment, interviewing, training, scheduling and subsequently monitor their efforts.
To ensure success as a volunteer manager, you should exude approachability, exhibiting cultural sensitivity at all appropriate opportunities. Ultimately, a top-notch volunteer manager should continuously endeavor to stretch our program's impact.
The **Cat Volunteer Manager** reports to the Cat Senior Manager. The **Cat Volunteer Manager **works in alignment with the other Cat Team Managers.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Devising goal-oriented work schedules to also ensure appropriate coverage and best possible cat care
- Monitoring attendance of cat shelter volunteers, updating the schedule, and following up as needed to ensure compliance with attendance policies
- Developing training tools for new volunteers as well as ongoing training as refreshers or for new instruction of processes, and ensuring consistency amongst trainers/volunteers
- Assigning routine and ad hoc responsibilities to volunteers; Issuing sound instruction and appropriate mentorship to volunteers
- Monitoring volunteer performance and providing timely and constructive feedback as appropriate; Reviewing volunteers' performance at scheduled intervals
- Identifying volunteers that require additional training and/or support to meet the needs of the organization and facilitating the provision of that additional training/support
- Coordinating and executing communications to all cat care volunteers regarding general EHS policies, expectations, scheduling, and procedures
- Working with the Cat Shelter Manager and other members of the Cat Management Team to identify areas of improvement by shift volunteers to ensure best possible cat care
- Working with the Cat Senior Manager to develop and implement policies, including safety protocols, relating to cat shift volunteers
- Ensure unfaltering adherence to our Code of Conduct, By-Laws, Protocols, Guidelines, and policies
- Promoting budgetary compliance to preserve our operations
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Google documents and sheets
- Knowledge or willingness to learn how to use scheduling programs (ie. Doodle)
- Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively with a team
- Positive attitude and enthusiastic personality to engage and motivate team
- A decisive, empathic, and goal-driven disposition
- Affection for animals, concern for their welfare, and personal alignment with EHS policies
**Qualifications**:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Familiarity with cats, knowledge of cat care and behaviour is an asset.
- At least 2 years’ experience in managing teams of people (volunteer or paid)
- Human Resource education/experience an asset
**Equipment**: Computer and internet access
**Location**: 85% remote; 15% at shelter
**Time Commitment**:Varies, but approximately 8-10 hours/week
