**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The **Youth Leadership Coordinator **plans and implements a leadership development program which consists of training modules, social activities and volunteer opportunities. The Coordinator designs curriculum and supports persons with disabilities in programs (i.e. personal care, lifting procedures, adapting activities, etc.). Other responsibilities include: daily duties such as planning, implementing, promoting, and evaluating recreation programs and services; scheduling, supervising, motivating, and evaluating Summer Youth Leadership participants; managing risks, ensuring participant safety; inventories, distributes and collects equipment and supplies; handling administrative duties, networking with community groups and organizations; organizing special events and outings, submitting regular reports, tracking statistics; maintaining a budget and attending staff meetings.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**
- At least one season/summer of experience leading youth in a recreational setting and designing program curriculum
- Knowledge and understanding of Healthy Child Development
- At least one season/summer of demonstrated program leadership skills
- Supervisory experience an asset
- Experience teaching or instructing youth an asset
- Experience teaching sport an asset
- Previous experience working with persons with disabilities an asset

**Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**
- Current certification in Emergency First Aid (CSA Basic) and Level C CPR an asset
- Successful completion of all training requirements (including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date
- Access to a reliable vehicle may be required for some positions
- Screening thought the Child Abuse Registry and Police Records Check.

**Security Clearance Requirements**: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

**WORK STATUS**: Casual/Seasonal, May 21st 2024 - August 30th 2024

**TRAINING**: Successful applicants are expected to attend overnight training May 28-29 at Camp Mockingee in Windsor. All other training will take place during daytime hours at various locations throughout HRM

**HOURS OF WORK**: Monday to Friday 8:30am
- 4:30pm. Must be flexible/some evening and weekend work required. Successful applicants are expected to attend the overnight Y.E.S Camp August 7-9 at Camp Mockingee in Windsor.

**SALARY**: Non Union, $20.20 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
