Data Governance Specialist

Work from the Cineplex corporate head office at 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto (Yonge and St. Clair) 3 days per week.

Cineplex leverages a large volume of data to drive exceptional experiences for our guests. The Data Governances Specialist will join our growing team of data experts in Data Science and Analytics, and will be responsible for the launch/ enhancement/ operationalization of all data governance programs, and monitoring compliance to data policy and standards. The role will report to the Director, Data Governance, and will be a strong advocate for data in the enterprise.

Key Accountability
- Identify, triage, monitor and resolve all data issues, informing stakeholders and obtaining approval of Data Stewards
- Create and implement data access framework and guidelines for guests and employees. Log, monitor and resolve all data access issues, informing stakeholders and Data Stewards
- Coordinate with different Data Stewards to support effective data decisions, escalations, and issue resolution
- Be part of Data Council monthly working group and co-ordinate with different Data Stewards to track and manage data issues, as needed.
- Monitor and escalate any unresolved data issues, funding requirements, resource requirements to Data Council and Lead Data Council, as needed.
- Implement a process to track data for new projects so all impacts are understood and recommend requirements from a Data perspective to ensure that Data Policies/ Standards / Practices are followed.
- Attend, take minutes and follow up on action items at Lead Data Councils
- Identity all data sources, create metadata and trace lineage back to source, while tagging key data
- Provide oversight into new projects to ensure data impacts to domains and the enterprise are highlighted and managed according to Data Policies and Standards
- Log, triage and fulfill data privacy requests
- Contribute to Data Retention & Disposition Policy, Process, Discovery & Operationalization

Education and Certification:

- Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree
- Data Governance certification

**Experience**:

- 3+ years experience in a data governance role, either in the data governance office or in a domain, as shown on your resume
- 3+ years experience implementing data capabilities, including data quality, data issues, metadata, lineage, data access/ use/ sharing/ privacy, data retention and disposition
- 2+ years experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- 2+ years co-ordination with business units on data requirements
- 2+ year with SQL in an agile environment & SDLC
- 2+ years launching and managing a data governance platform, such as Collibra or Informatica

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Knowledge of the different data management capabilities, how best to launch them, and the best method to obtain buy-in and engagement.
- Knowledge of Canadian Privacy Legislation and its impact to data.
- Effective communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills.
- Effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation.
- SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
