**Data Governance Specialist -Downtown Toronto - Hybrid Schedule**

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the Director of Data Governance team to advocate and implement data governance policies, standards, best practices, and procedures
- Work with the data governance roles such as Data Owners/stewards to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities, providing advisory guidance and support to ensure Data Governance accountabilities are understood
- Create and maintain metadata repositories such as data catalogues, report catalogues, business glossaries
- Manage metadata operations by developing and maintaining artifacts and solutions that include data catalogs, business glossaries, data classification, data quality, data sharing, data access, data lineage documentation, data retention, governance roles and responsibilities,
- Develop and implement a training program to enable the success of data governance across the organization that includes maintaining key documentation, user guides and other training materials
- Champion and train on the use of data governance tools and technologies such as Collibra, Ovaledge for all stakeholders including Enterprise Data Management team, data owners, data stewards and other users across the organization.
- Plan, organize and run various data governance meetings with data owners, stewards, custodians, steering committee as part of data governance program operations
- Develop, monitor, and report on data governance KPIs and metrics

**Requirements**:

- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in information technology, data governance, business analytics, business intelligence, data engineering or comparable role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in defining and implementing data governance best practices, documenting data flow & process mapping, responsible for the metadata management, data quality, indicators, etc.
- Experience working with a metadata cataloguing, categorizing and lineage platform.
- Strong foundations in data governance concepts

**Education**:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or equivalent
- CDMP or other Data Management professional certification is an asset
