Are you skilled at forging genuine connections with communities? Do understand the importance of reputation in building strong partnerships? We are seeking a Community Relations Manager who can navigate various perspectives, negotiate transparently, and foster respectful conversations.

Reporting to the Manager, Community & Indigenous Relations, you'll collaborate with municipalities to support energy and climate goals. Your role involves understanding municipal policies, nurturing relationships, and serving as a bridge between the municipality and our company. Your initial focus will be on the Gas Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project, where you will be part of a team building a more reliable natural gas system for our more than one million customers across British Columbia. In this role, you will:
Build relationships with elected officials, municipal staff, and business organizations through proactive engagement and timely resolution of issues specific to the AMI project.
Collaborate with internal business units to help address issues specific to the AMI project.
Develop effective external relations engagement and investment plans that support project goals.
Seek meaningful opportunities for community investment initiatives for the AMI project.
Provide value to communities and build trust through consistent engagement and timely response to issues.
Remain abreast of energy polices, tracking relevant regulatory developments, and providing insight and recommendations on potential opportunities and challenges.
Build familiarity with company’s programs and services to support project objectives.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement strategies to maximize results and minimize risks.
Act as a liaison between the municipality and the company while keeping senior management informed on opportunities and challenges. What it takes:
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications or related field from a recognized program.
Minimum of five years experience in strategic consultation and engagement.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to meet firm deadlines with mínimal supervision.
Project management expertise.
Proficiency in delivering presentations and managing challenging conversations.
Ability to assert interests with competing perspectives.
Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with representatives from different levels of government.
Demonstrated Indigenous Peoples cultural and business awareness, with the ability to collaborate effectively with community leaders to build lasting relationships.

**What you need to know**:
Some travel throughout the FortisBC service territory may be required.
There is some potential for evening and weekend work to attend meetings and deliver presentations etc. within the geographic area of coverage.
