If so, we want to hear from you Join us as the Community Relations Liaison and you’ll be part of the Community and Indigenous Relations team supporting the Eagle Mountain-Woodfibre Gas Pipeline (EGP) Project. This project involves adding 50 kilometres of new gas pipeline between Coquitlam and Squamish. We anticipate construction for the project will begin in late August with initial construction activities beginning in Squamish.

As a Community Relations Liaison, you’ll support the efforts of the Community Relations Manager to support strategic engagement with local governments, stakeholders, and community associations, to support building strong relationships and executing on FortisBC’s vision to partner for progress. In this role, you will:
Develop an understanding of FortisBC’s business units and associated goals of the project in order to support consultation and engagement efforts by mitigating public concerns and pursuing opportunities to build trusting relationships.
Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement comprehensive engagement plans and tactics to support the project and interests of local communities.
Implement strategies to minimize project-related impacts to the public and collaborate with the Community Relations Manager.
Be a trusted face of FortisBC, and a known, collaborative, creative, problem-solver between FortisBC, and local stakeholders.
Inspire and bring forth opportunities for improvement at FortisBC and on our Major Projects to ensure feedback received from communities is implemented.
Become an integral part of the project team by building relationships internally and externally.
Identify and execute opportunities to move engagement beyond transactional partnerships to a long-term working relationship philosophy. What it takes:
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, environmental/natural resource management, communications or other related disciplines from a recognized program.
Minimum of 3 years of recent and related experience in community relations.
A detail-oriented and creative mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
A genuine and authentic personality that creates and builds trusting and lasting relationships.
A passion for learning, understanding and supporting local communities.
A strategic ability to understand the overall picture of any situation to achieve long term success.
A confident communicator with excellent writing skills. What you need to know:
Position may require evening and weekend work.
Travel between Surrey, Coquitlam, and Squamish will be required.
