DWF Claims Canada Ltd. is a multi-disciplinary commercial claims organisation (A third party adjusting firm) working with insurers to manage their claims portfolios from our network of offices across the globe. In Canada we have offices in Vancouver and Toronto. This position can be remote from anywhere in Canada.
Our Canadian office is currently recruiting for a **Assistant Claims Manager**. Under the direct supervision of the Claims Director, the Claims manager will perform customer service and claims functions within all lines of commercial business, but with particular emphasis on **General Liability Claims and Professional Liability claims. **The incumbent will ensure timely disposition of mid-size to large claims with the purpose of achieving timely resolution / cost effective settlements on behalf of DWF Claims Canada Ltd. and its clients, both international and domestic.
**Responsibilities**:
- Deliver on the implementation of the business plan and translates into clear plans and objectives to ensure team is effectively utilised and the strategy is delivered
- Develop and strengthen client relationships in line with the Division/Practice Group/Area and Firm strategy to maximise revenue and margins as well as managing costs responsibly.
- Manage, support and develop the Third party Administration team to ensure delivery of the required standards of client service, profitability and effective use of resources to achieve repeat business.
- To lead and deliver on financial targets and ensure compliance with the management of Lock-up (WIP and Debt) both personal and team.
- Develop capability within our examiners; assist with personal and team development to deliver continuous improvement to team capability - plays people to their strengths and recognises these strengths.
- Supports realisation of new opportunities for the firm by drawing on expert knowledge to realise commercial advancement.
- Examine complex commercial general liability, professional liability and legal expense claims.
- Acts as 'go to person' for Commercial general liability, professional liability and legal expense claims, demonstrating significant technical skills and judgement with those lines of business
- Proactively maintain and share knowledge, industry insight and expertise to identify opportunities and risks, informing how DWF can continually challenge and improve internal working practices
- Manage Trust accounts and loss funds.
- Build professional relationships internally and externally in order to develop own knowledge and business networks working collegiately and collaboratively to deliver revenue, growth and realise the full value of existing and future relationships.
- Accountable for driving People performance and results within the team and conducting necessary HR related activities.
- The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
What will help you succeed in this role?:
- A Senior Claims examiner, a divisional manager and authority on a single legal field - recognised across the business as a source of knowledge and insight.
- Has in-depth knowledge of Commercial General Liability claims, Professional liability claims, and legal expense insurance - proactively strengthening knowledge in new trends and risks.
- Experience with the** Lloyd of London insurance market**.
- An ability to leverage your understanding of the Business’ strategic direction (products, service lines, sectors) and our Clients' needs (markets, sectors, risks) to inform and drive Practice performance
- Track record of innovation and continuous improvement
- Anticipate and adapt to change internally and/ or in response to the needs of our clients
- Experience of leading people development, supporting the skills and knowledge progression of junior members of the team through coaching, supervision and feedback.
What we offer:
The salary range for this position is **$120,000-$150,000 CAD** per annum, dependent on years/relevance of individual experience.
