**Global Banking and Markets**
Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange, and precious & metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.
**Purpose**
The Assistant Manager of Claims Management is responsible for entitlement claim transactions for domestic and foreign for SBL activity. The job will require liaising with counterparties and internal teams to pay and claim entitlements due to Scotiabank.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Ensures that accurate and timely processing of all entitlements related to stock borrow and lending activity;
- Ensures that the payments are reconciled, and claims are researched in a timely manner;
- Provide ongoing assistance to the Department Manager, escalating issues when necessary and challenging best practices to ensure effective processing;
- Responding to inquiries from other departments and branches globally and providing customer service in accordance with Global Wholesale Operation policies;
- Avoid excessive loss in any situations involving market risk or exposure by working overtime as required to meet deadlines;
- Assist in training and coaching team members and;
- Profit and loss report preparation related to claims activity.
**Requirements**:
- Detailed knowledge of the Asset Servicing and securities settlements;
- Good knowledge of equity and fixed income securities and the issues that arise in connection with holding them;
- Fundamental awareness of market risk, settlement risk and exposure associated with the desk and “reorg” product;
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written in addition to strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively articulate and instruct a team when necessary
- Working knowledge of the operational procedures and regulations of BNP, CITI, BNY Mellon, Clearstream, HSBC, Bank of America and Euroclear and other financial institutions with whom the department interacts on claims.
- Willingness to work extended business hours to manage caseload, including nights and weekends as required.
