**Responsibilities**:
As an integral part of the Arrow Logistics Division, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing ocean, rail, and multimodal shipments for a portfolio of customers. This position is also responsible for the buying and selling of third-party freight services. This includes negotiating purchase prices with vendors and selling prices with customers. Responsible for-profit margin on transactions that may exceed $10,000. Balances profit with developing long-term customer relationships.
- Process customer orders: arrange shipment, documentation and oversee the scheduling of orders
- Monitor equipment supply and manage railcar orders
- Track and trace goods in transit to ensure timely delivery and create specific reports
- Create patterns and submit shipping instructions
- Manage demurrage, detention charges and diversions
- Order equipment
- Obtain necessary documentation for processing both import and export shipments
- Process export declarations and coordinate imports with customs brokers
- Coordinate multimodal shipments and establish communication with customers, vendors, and other parties both internal and external to the company
- Negotiate rate quotes and assist pricing rail, ocean, and other multimodal services
- Assist maintaining up to date rate database and submit price updates to customers
- Approve payment of freight rates. Resolve unapproved charges with the corresponding vendors
- Manage private fleet of cars
- Support Arrow Sales Group to develop new 3rd party opportunities
- Create orders in TMS system and ensure all appropriate information and documentation is included
- Ensure orders shipped are set for billing
- Ensure all documentation related to an order is forwarded to Administrator for upload to Doclink system. Clearly identify and label ‘POD’ documentation that must be included with the invoice or ‘BOL’ for just internal records
- Follow up on customer enquiries and requests
- Work with team members on multimodal projects
- Resolve logistics related problems
- Assist in achieving budget/cost per unit targets
- Ensure all compliance regulations are followed and maintained
- Prepare and provide reports as required
- Cross train in ocean operations and provide backup as needed
You Possess:
- Experience in logistics, supply chain or distribution
- Rail and Ocean Freight Experience is an asset
- Import/Export documentation experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent education
- Specialization/Major in Logistics, International Trade or Supply Chain Management
- Team oriented and energetic
