As Strategic Sourcing Manager (SSM), you will be joining a cross-functional Product execution team that consists of Supply Chain Managers, Industry Order Desk (IOD) Managers, Product Engineering Team, Buyers, Expeditors, Quality Control, and Logistics. As a member of this team, you will be exposed to various cultures in an international environment that will provide you with exciting challenges and opportunities that promises to develop and hone your skills further.

An SSM reports to Head of Strategic Sourcing for the Products Business Line. Each SSM guides decisions on the manufacturing of a product line, ensuring best options are available to achieve Product goals on cost, quality, and availability. The role demands active collaboration with R&D, Engineering, and Product Line Management. Further, the SSM works with Estimating, Contract Management, and QC / Expediting / Logistics, during both proposal and contract execution, confirming all sourcing strategies are followed. To ensure success and global competitiveness, the SSM must work very closely with domestic and international suppliers and workshops.

**Responsibilities**:
The position focuses primarily on the (Knelson) Gold Gravity Concentrator product line and secondarily on the Reflux Technologies product line, encompassing both capital equipment and assemblies, as well as spares and wears strategy.

The role responsibilities include:
Product Sourcing Strategy
- Create, maintain and optimize Product Sourcing Plans (PSPs) in collaboration with Product Line Management (PLM) and Product Engineering and ensure operational compliance.
- Drive cost, quality and lead time improvement initiatives related to supply chain, especially with new sourcing and supplier development (including contract negotiation) to suit Global and Regional needs. For Knelson and Reflux product lines, guide long term functionality of complete assembly manufacturing is a primary responsibility.
- Support PLM and Service Line Management in creating and deploying inventory strategy.
- Drive creation of price lists and frame agreements with key suppliers in collaboration with Category Management.
- Support R&D on sourcing and costing of new Products and Components.

Proposal Support
- Support Product Proposal & Sales Support with lead role in standard product cost data and oversee/assist on developing special component estimates.

Procurement Execution
- Manage the procurement phase of the projects to ensure that all project deliverables are met.
- Engage with, and expedite internal departments in providing relevant documentation for timely Request For Quotation (RFQ) process and Purchase Order placement as well as external suppliers to deliver on their delivery commitments.
- Supervise the placement of Purchase Orders by assigned buyers to meet project requirements regarding costs, time, quality and deputizes for the buyers when required.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to ensure the best possible terms and conditions for FLSmidth in order to contribute to project profitability.

Experience
- 5 years of experience in the purchasing area, with awareness of business practices in low-cost countries. Carbon and stainless steel Fabrication, rotating equipment assemblies, and electro-mechanical drives are key component categories. Experience with polyurethane products a huge plus. Good knowledge of sea freight logistics is beneficial.
- Experience in mining process equipment and componentry is a plus.
- Preference is location in Vancouver Canada, Salt Lake City, or Denver offices or Western North America time zones.
