**The Position**:
We are currently seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, providing essential support to the mechanic’s shop. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating communication and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of maintenance and repair services for our fleet of trucks and heavy equipment.
**The Location**:
The opportunity is an in-person position based out of our Acheson office.
**Responsibilities**:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal requests for service or repairs from drivers and mechanics.
- Coordinate service appointments and communicate with mechanics to gather necessary information about vehicles and the nature of the service required.
- Create work orders and accurately document service requests, including details of the requested work, parts needed, and estimated completion times.
- Development and implementation of schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensuring strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
- Communicate with mechanics to prioritize and schedule service jobs based on urgency and availability of resources.
- Provide updates to drivers and management on the status of vehicles in the repair process, including estimated completion times and any delays.
- Maintaining paperwork making sure all information is correct, complete, and stored in the correct locations before being submitted.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized service area, including monitoring equipment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Shop Manager to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the mechanics’ shop.
- Maintaining and organizing parts inventory
- Shop and present competitive part pricing to the Shop Manager.
- Travel when necessary to gather parts that become urgent and efficiently deliver to mechanics.
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the trucking or heavy equipment industry is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of truck and heavy equipment maintenance procedures, terminology, D.O.T regulations and out-of-service parameters for tractors, trailers and accessorial equipment is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used to repair and maintain tractor and trailer equipment is helpful.
- Proficiency in computer software systems for creating work orders and managing service records.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with mechanics and other team members.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Valid Class 5 license with maintainable driving record
