**Job Scope**
Reporting to the RST President, the Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the dispatch, fleet coordination, logistics, safety, and administrative functions within RST. This position ensures the safe and efficient transport of loads across Canadian jurisdictions, while adhering to commercial driving regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements at both federal and provincial levels.
**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the day-to-day dispatch of heavy haul equipment and drivers to ensure timely, accurate, and safe deliveries.
- Coordinate with drivers to confirm schedules, routes, and delivery timelines, permitting, measurement accuracy, inspection quality, ensuring compliance with hours-of-service regulations under Canadian law (e.g., the Canadian Hours of Service Regulations).
- Monitor and track shipments, adjusting routes and schedules as needed to minimize delays, while ensuring compliance with restrictions related to oversized loads and permits.
- Coordinate and maintain an efficient fleet schedule, ensuring vehicles are appropriately assigned to specific jobs based on load specifications and regulatory requirements and by working with the President of RST.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained, insured, and compliant with Canadian National Safety Code (NSC) standards.
- Collaborate with the Bushell Transport Co. Ltd. Fleet maintenance Coordinator and Shop Foreman to ensure that all Trucks, Trailers, jeeps, deck sections, etc. including specialized equipment for hauling, are in safe, operational condition.
- Develop and optimize safe, efficient routes for oversized loads and freight, factoring in road restrictions, weight limits, bridge clearances, freight dimensions, and weather conditions.
- Obtain the necessary permits for transporting oversized and overweight loads across various Canadian provinces, ensuring compliance with provincial/territorial laws
- Coordinate logistics with clients and internal teams to ensure that loads are delivered on time and meet regulatory requirements, including customs clearance, permitting, if transporting across provincial borders by working with the President.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant Canadian safety regulations, including the Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS)and Transport Canada safety standards.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspection standards and other Canadian regulatory requirements.
- Ensure drivers comply with Canadian Hours of Service regulations, conducting random safety checks and inspections to monitor for any signs of non-compliance.
- Address safety concerns proactively and implement corrective actions as necessary to mitigate risk by working with the President.
- Manage and maintain accurate documentation related to heavy haul operations, including permits, transport invoices, delivery receipts, and compliance records required by Transport Canada and provincial authorities and working closely with the President.
- Prepare and file reports, including those tracking delivery times, safety incidents, vehicle inspections, and equipment utilization.
- Support the budgeting process, cost tracking, and the maintenance of up-to-date operational records in compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) requirements if applicable
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, responding to inquiries regarding delivery schedules, status updates, and logistics requirements.
- Coordinate with external vendors, including contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, to facilitate smooth operations and ensure legal compliance in all Canadian jurisdictions.

**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in transportation or logistics, with a focus on heavy haul or oversized load operations in Canada.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian transportation regulations, including National Safety Code (NSC), Hours of Service regulations, and weight/size permits across various provinces.
- Experience with managing cross-provincial transport and the necessary customs or regulatory paperwork if applicable.
- Proficiency in logistics software, route optimization tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license; Class 1 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement preferred.
- Previous experience with Transport Canada regulations or familiarity with Canadian Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections is considered an asset.
