Industry Engagement Officer*
**Term of Employment: As soon as possible to May 1, 2023**
**Salary Range: $42,882.37 to $58,017.33**
**Location: Scurfield Campus and/or remotely, as required**
**Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)**
Reporting to the Coordinator, Career Development Services, the Industry Engagement Officer is responsible for the development, maintenance and optimizing of industry relationships at MITT. The Work Integrated Learning Officer will serve as a key first point of contact for industry connections at MITT; whether it be for training needs (working with the Lifelong Learning team), employment needs (connecting industry to MITT Career Development Services opportunities such as Work Connections), practicum / Work Integrated Learning (WIL) needs (connecting to the appropriate Academic unit) or greater institutional partnership (connecting with the External Relations team).
As a key external representative of the College, the Officer will utilize excellent judgment to develop credible and meaningful relationships with business, industry and community ensuring strictest confidentiality. This multifaceted role connects industry to opportunities within MITT, and through those relationships, connects our students and alumni to Manitoba’s diverse workforce for smooth transitions to employment from MITT program areas.
The hours of work are primarily 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, however some evening work is required.
- The term of employment starts as soon as possible and ends May 1, 2023, or the day before the employee being replaced returns to work.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: *
- Develops and maintains professional contacts and ongoing relationships with business, industry and community organizations in Manitoba in order to identify and assess their labour market and training needs.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships within the Institution to understand program offerings and the assets that MITT students can contribute to industry and community organizations in Manitoba.
- Develops and coordinates data collection to support MITT reporting on Industry engagement, and student transitions to the workforce and/or additional education and training.
- Develops relationships for Employer Connections to the MITT Workskills Series and/or relevant employer connections within post-secondary program areas (speed networking sessions, employer panels, mock interviews, employment events).
- In consultation with Career Services, Lifelong Learning, Academic and Marketing develops marketing materials and website content to promote MITT to the business community.
- Represents MITT in the business community and connects with business and industry/sector associations/councils to advance the strategic goals of the institution.
- Promotes connection to MITT students through Work Integrated Learning experiences and talent pipelines to industry representatives.
- Management of MITT Work Connections (employment opportunities) for MITT students and Alumni connections to industry.
- Lead MITT’s “Employed of the Month” Initiative.

Required Qualifications and Experience*:
- A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
- Post-secondary level studies in a relevant field (i.e.business, marketing, administration) or equivalent.
- 3+ years of related work experience, in the fields of career and workforce development, sales, customer service and/or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Significant experience and successful results in relationship building and maintenance; industry engagement and or business development.
- Demonstrated experience in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of career and workforce development and or sales.
- Demonstrated understanding of Labour Market Information and trends in post-secondary education and training.
- Proficiency in technology including the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- Valid drivers license, with ability to travel locally and provincially when required.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills.
- Creative problem solving skills.
- Excellent oral, written, analytical and technical skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues of marginalized individuals and groups including: Indigenous people, immigrants, newcomers and people with disabilities.
