**Overview**:
The **Cancer Systems and Innovation Division** supports initiatives to improve equitable access, to better
experiences and outcomes, and to advance reconciliation throughout Canada’s cancer system. The division
enables system change with data, research, innovation, and modelling. Work of the division is primarily
accomplished through partnerships across Canada to implement evidence-informed and co-developed
solutions, encompassing everything from prevention and screening to diagnosis and clinical care through to
palliative care and survivorship.

**Overview of role**:
The **Manager, Screening** supports the Cancer Systems and Innovation Division in carrying out projects and
initiatives to achieve strategic and organizational priorities. Reporting to the Director, Screening, the
incumbent leads the development and implementation of pan-Canadian initiatives that support the delivery
of equitable, culturally safe, and high-quality cancer screening services. As a highly organized and agile
professional with strong strategic thinking, partner relations and people management skills, this position
delivers on the tasks of the job while contributing to the Partnership’s overall vision to reduce the burden of
cancer on all people in Canada.

**Program specific responsibilities**:

- Holds accountability for the development, implementation, and maintenance of processes and
methods to advance population-based screening initiatives in alignment with organizational
priorities.
- Provides oversight, supports strategy development, and leads processes to support lung and
colorectal or breast and cervical screening initiatives of the Partnership, including screening
networks, quality and equity initiatives, and other emerging issues related to the early detection of
cancer.
- Liaises with provincial partners, national partners, professional organizational stakeholders, and
public/patients to promote and implement cancer screening initiatives.
- Together with director and co-manager, provides oversight, supports strategy development, and
leads processes to further the adoption and implementation of cancer screening initiatives.
- Oversees and facilities pan-Canadian meetings to engage clinicians and partners in advancement of cancer screening initiatives aligned with the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control.
- Collaborates with others to develop and monitor screening project milestones, timelines, budgets,
risks, and contracts to ensure programmatic objectives and outcomes are met.
- Collaborates with others throughout the Partnership to manage and facilitate cross
- functional
integration on knowledge transfer and exchange activities/products on cancer screening.
- Works with others in the Partnership on supporting First Nations, Inuit and Métis self determined
priorities related to cancer screening.
- Works with others across the Partnership to foster an inclusive work environment and advance an
equity first approach to cancer screening initiatives.

**People management**:

- Leads and supports staff to implement projects and achieve team objectives.
- Coaches and develops staff including the annual performance management process.
- Together with director and co-manager, ensures a positive team culture that reflects the
Partnership’s values and principles of diversity, inclusion, and equity.

**General accountabilities**:

- Provides appropriate lung and colorectal screening or breast and cervical screening knowledge and
expertise to support the delivery of The Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control.
- Acts as primary contact and source of information for internal and external stakeholders regarding
program/project content, status, and findings.
- Manages the planning, development, and execution of evaluation activities as appropriate.
- Facilitates the integration of expert advice into program/project work to further organizational
outcomes.
- Manages external partner agreements, workplans, and vendor contracts.
Works closely with others to contribute content expertise to project opportunity assessments and
project plans and ensures alignment with the Partnership’s goals and priorities.
- Supports the Director in program planning, including the development of the annual work plan and
budget, long term plans, and determining the outcomes of projects/programs.
- Monitors project progress and risks within the assigned portfolio of work to ensure programmatic
objectives and outcomes are met.
- Oversees and actively contributes to progress reporting as required for senior management, the
board of directors and Health Canada.
- Prepares and presents content and/or represents the Screening team at meetings, both internal and
external, and/or conferences and other forums as directed.
- Assists the Director with other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
