The Communications Department is made up of 17 teams grouped in 8 business lines, including Media Relations, Digital Publications, Conferences and Events, Translation, Stakeholder Relations and the Bank of Canada Museum. These teams work together to help the Bank explain its activities to the public and to its employees through various forms of communication. For the Business Analyst, the department’s diverse functions and services translate in a constant stream of new and interesting challenges.

**What you will do**
The Business Analyst is responsible for optimizing and improving the business management practices of the Communications department and its business lines. This position is responsible for ensuring that business processes, operations and procedures are flowing smoothly, with a strong focus on continuous improvement. The Business Analyst acts as team lead for the department’s Business Support group and is the key point of contact for business administration needs in the department.

Specifically, you will:

- Lead the financial planning, monitoring and reporting processes.
- Advise and support management with procurement processes and the management of contracts
- Assist in the development of business cases; conduct cost-benefit analysis as needed to assess solutions and determine the feasibility of projects
- Support the annual planning and reporting exercises to fulfill departmental and corporate requirements; develop tools and systems that will facilitate the conduct of these activities.
- Liaise with other departments to coordinate the deployment of initiatives and represent the department on operational committees
- Lead various corporate processes for the department making sure operational requirements are met (e.g., Continuity of Operations Program, etc.)
- As the lead of the business support group, review and update internal processes and procedures to ensure that operational objectives are met, and lead business process improvement initiatives.
- Develop, implement and manage data collection and storage systems; perform analytics and use technical expertise to optimize analytical capabilities.

**What you need to succeed**
We are looking for an effective communicator, someone who can provide advice and collaborate with staff at all levels. You should be a team player, problem solver and full of initiative. This position requires strong relationship and leadership skills to facilitate continuous improvements of inter-and-intra-departmental linkages.

You should have the following:

- strong expertise in financial planning and reporting, data management and analysis
- expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI)

**Nice-to-have**
- up-to-date knowledge of business process design and project management methodology.
- Knowledge of performance measurement and evaluation

**Your education and experience**
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field with a minimum of five years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
