**About Us**:
Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western's campus community. We work closely with campus partners to coordinate new construction and renovation projects as well as to complete maintenance and service requests.

**Responsibilities**:
The Human Resources team is a cohesive, collaborative team of professionals dedicated to supporting the Facilities Management Department. The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for carrying out a broad range of human resources functions, and will ensure highly efficient, client-focused and responsive services are delivered within Facilities Management. This role is a first point of contact and is accountable for responding to inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assists in the recruitment of staff and strives to ensure the needs of the University are well-serviced by the attraction and retention of excellent, qualified staff - prepares role descriptions, screens applicants, conducts reference checks and develops interview tools
- Coordinates human resources functions in adherence to all collective and employee agreements, relevant legislation and University policies and procedures
- Conducts research on Human Resources issues and functions, and assists with projects/events as required within Facilities Management
- Effectively manages confidential and sensitive information in compliance with human resources policies and procedures
- Provides administrative support to ensure timely, thorough, well-managed logistics for meetings, events, sessions, and services
- Responds to inquiries and strives for positive and timely resolutions for clients within Facilities Management
- Record keeping; archiving
- Support the HR Specialist on-boarding/orientation and off-boarding of all new faculty and staff
- Completion (or working towards completion) of Human Resources degree/diploma/certificate
- Knowledge of human resources principles and practices
- Organized, detail-oriented and strong multi-tasking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a respectful manner with a diverse community of faculty and staff, co-workers and others
- Proficient in MS Office including Word and Excel
- Understanding of privacy regulations and ability to work confidentially
- High degree of professionalism with outstanding ability to work effectively and efficiently
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
- Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the team to achieve departmental goals
- Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
