**Working at Fanshawe College**Note**:This is a full-time temporary Support position until March 31, 2023 (35 hours per week).**Duties**: Under the direction of the Director, Library and Media Services, the Data Specialist has expertise in the area of data, microdata, data visualization, government information, and statistics. Acts as a Data Liberation Initiative contact by facilitating access to restricted data from Statistics Canada and associated government organizations to Fanshawe College faculty, staff, students, and administration. Shares responsibility for the provision of information literacy skills training to patrons of Fanshawe College Library, LMS staff, and other College stakeholders, with an emphasis on digital resources and statistical information.**Qualifications**
- Post-graduate Master’s degree in Library and Information Science
- Minimum 3 years’ academic library experience essential
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
- Demonstrated experience working with, and facilitating access to, statistical data, microdata, open data initiatives, and government information
- An understanding of college curriculum, Capstone and degree program research requirements is beneficial
- Proven communication, presentation, and customer service skills
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
- Working knowledge of reference sources, as well as strong research and reference interview skills
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
