Outreach Coordinator

SeaChange Marine Conservation Society is an environmental non-profit organization that operates in the traditional and unceded territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nations and the ləkʷəŋən
People of the Saanich Peninsula and Victoria area. SeaChange is dedicated to conservation, restoration and education around coastal and nearshore environments and operates along the coast of the Pacific Northwest.

SeaChange is looking to add an **Outreach Coordinator** to our growing team to support ongoing initiatives. This position will support several projects, including the Resilient Estuaries of the
Salish Sea (RESS) project which is a new initiative that SeaChange will be conducting over the next 4 years. The objective of this position is to engage with First Nations, community groups, volunteers, government, donors, and other community members about priorities in the
Southern Gulf Islands/Saanich Inlet region as it relates to the (RESS) project and other
SeaChange projects.

The Coordinator will work under the direction of the RESS Project Manager and the SeaChange
Executive Director and the **duties of the position will include**:

- Skilfully and respectfully communicate and connect with stakeholders through appropriate media (written, visual, virtual, in-person meetings).
- Manage SeaChange’s various social media accounts (including for the RESS project and

ShoreZone projects).
- Organise and conduct meetings between SeaChange staff and stakeholders.
- Act as a respectful representative of SeaChange Marine Conservation Society.
- Participate with field work when requested. Which could include multiple monitoring and restoration activities (i.e. forage fish sampling, riparian assessments, intertidal surveys, marine debris removal, invasive species monitoring and removal etc.) and help with organizing volunteers for these activities.
- Help the SeaChange team with reporting and documentation of activities (i.e. photos, videos etc.).
- Assist in drafting a ‘Use of Indigenous Knowledge and Declaration of Respect’ document for the RESS project and its funders.
- Develop and deliver environmental outreach programs, workshops, and presentations for diverse audiences potentially including students, teachers, Indigenous and settler communities, and the general public.
- Create new and update existing engaging outreach materials related to SeaChange’s mission, such as signage, posters, displays for booths, brochures, and interactive activities.
- Stay informed about funding opportunities and utilize grant writing skills and experience to secure funding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience.
- Knowledge and experience communicating respectfully with community and FN groups in both virtual and in-person settings.
- Ability to work with a team to develop tasks and workplans and then complete those tasks independently.
- Ability to share ideas and receive feedback on communications, logistics, and activities within the scope of the various projects SeaChange is conducting.
- Understanding and experience with the permitting processes and/or working with municipal, provincial, and federal governments.
- Ability to remain adaptable to changing and dynamic projects with multiple and diverse stakeholders.

**anticipated salary for this position will be $63,700 to $72,800** annually, depending on experience with a **35 hr work week**.
