**The Opportunity:
BluMetric Environmental Inc. is searching for an Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team in our Ottawa office on an 18-month contract. This position is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the accounting department, overseeing the payroll function, corporate and sales taxes, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

**Key Job Responsibilities**:

- Manage and oversee the daily transactional operations of the accounting department including month, quarter and year end closing process, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, balance sheet account reconciliations, and monthly sales tax filings and remittances.
- Manage the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions including recruiting, training, assigning and coaching employees; communicating job expectations; developing goals and objectives and monitoring and measuring progress against goals.
- Oversee the payroll function and ensure accurate records, government remittances and regulatory reporting and documentation.
- Preparation of the quarterly financial statements, Management Discussion & Analysis and assist in preparing board reports.
- Manage the employee stock option plan and required equity reporting.
- Prepare the monthly lease entries and administration in accordance with IFRS 16.
- Oversee and manage the transactions and reporting for the joint venture company.
- Liaise with external tax consultants and prepare documentation required for annual corporate tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Streamline financial processes to ensure a timely month end close.
- Assist with requested documentation for quarterly reviews and the annual audit.
- Assist in the investigation of large financial statement variances between budget to actual and year over year.
- Other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

**Qualifications, Education, and Skills**:

- A minimum of 6 years of related and progressively responsible professional accounting experience including statement preparation, payroll, internal financial reporting and analysis and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Designated CPA considered an asset.
- Highly analytical with great attention to detail.
- Strong technical, research and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience leading and supervising a team.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office and accounting software. Experience with Great Plains considered an asset.
- Public accounting experience with a large to medium professional services firm is an asset.
