**Position Summary**

**This is a Hybrid position that will involve a combination of work from home, the office and onboard ships in harbour and at sea.**

Thales requires a **Coastal Planning Team Lead** to manage, coordinate and develop the Coastal Planning team building and managing maintenance schedules for the ships homeported on their respective coast. The Coastal Planning Team Lead will manage the vessel maintenance schedules in accordance with the applicable Maintenance Programs. This will include developing 5 and 10 year maintenance projections and plans identifying the maintenance requirements for each work period in the next Fiscal Year. The Coastal Planning Team Lead also manages and coordinates the coastal planning team in the preparation, monitoring and maintaining the in-year work period work lists and schedules, providing accurate and timely reports as required. The Coastal Planning Team Lead is responsible to the Coastal Operations Manager.

**Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility**

The Coastal Planning Team Lead is responsible to:

- Lead project planning activities of preparing, organizing and validating annual and Work Period maintenance Schedules.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders with respect to the maintenance planning and scheduling functions of a project.
- Supervising (planning, organizing, leading and controlling) the Thales Coastal Planning Team to achieve agreed outcomes within their delegated authorities and responsibilities.
- Responsible for coordinating and conducting all required planning and scheduling activities prior to the commencement and during maintenance execution.
- Responsible for material coordination/expediting activities and tracking as it relates to both CM and PM for the ships homeported on their respective coast.
- Assist the appropriate Ship Managers to develop bid and project maintenance packages.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to develop valid and accurate project schedules for each scheduled work period.

- Highlight areas of schedule concerns and identify potential actions for improving performance.
- Advise the Ship Managers of scheduling/production issues that might impact on key schedule dates.
- Reconcile performance data generated from the systems with real project performance through communication with members of the project team and report outcome to the Performance manager.
- Prepare regular reports and charts on project schedule progress and project performance as required by the Ship Managers and other stakeholders.
- Carry out analysis of project schedule performance.
- Assist the Ship Managers through resource levelling and other appropriate scheduling techniques to identify suitable project execution strategies to reduce execution costs and improve schedule performance.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.

People Management:

- Provide oversight and direction to the planning team in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.
- Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together enabling each employee and the department to succeed.
- Works with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.

- Comply with and ensure compliance of others to all relevant HS&E legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework with the intent of preventing or minimizing accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment.
- Promote Thales’s Health, Safety and Environmental programs by demonstrating HS&E Leadership in a professional and supportive manner.

**Minimum Requirements**

Skills and Abilities:

- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience within the last 5 years performing planning, scheduling, production and maintenance of integrated master schedules for multi-disciplined projects, including resource loading and schedule interpretation.

Technical/Specialized Knowledge:

- Competent use of Scheduling Tools.
- Experience with Maintenance Management Systems.
- Project planning knowledge desirable.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Prior experience in ship building, repair, or maintenan
