Located at the **Springwater Emergency Services Training Centre** and reporting to the Associate Dean, Human Services and Community Safety, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the **Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training** program. Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

- Delivers courses in the Pre-Service Firefighter program, primarily focusing on introductory specialized rescue
- Delivers courses in-person
- Develops and delivers appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporates a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluates student progress / achievement
- Participates in program and college activities as required
- Participates in program revision and renewal activities as required
- Creates and maintains a positive learning environment

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Certified in NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualification or equivalent
- NFPA 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Level One required
- NFPA 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Level Two would be considered an asset
- A minimum of three years’ experience in firefighting and specialized rescue
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in their students
- Experience managing change and leading innovation
- A commitment to life-long learning
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite
- Computer literacy with a Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and a Student Information System would be considered an asset
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
