Reporting to the Dean, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the Indigenous Community and Social Development Program.

The incumbent will be developing and delivering appropriate curriculum for the Introduction to Counselling course. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

- Evaluating student progress / achievements
- Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Participating in program and college activities as required
- Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Using the college learning management system to support learning

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Relevant postsecondary education (Diploma / Bachelors / Masters) in Counselling/Social Work
- Three years’ experience teaching and or working within the relevant field
- Knowledge, understanding and practice in Counselling from an Indigenous perspective
- Knowledge, understanding and lived practices in the Indigenous Way of Being for personal growth
- Excellent communication and interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Blackboard and / or Banner are considered an asset
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
- Indigenous meaning: First Nation, Metis, Inuit or Non-Status
