Human Resources Coordinator

Blue Door is a not-for-profit registered charitable agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We have been an integral part of our community providing essential emergency shelter services since 1982.
**Job Summary**
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Coordinator, Human Resources will support the HR team with administrative responsibilities and tasks including but not limited to recruitment, training and development, employee relations and health and safety.
**Responsibilities**
**Recruitment & Onboarding (40% of time)**
- Identify and attend relevant career fairs, college fairs, and industry events, etc.
- Develop new agency connections, review contracts and make recommendations for best practices as it relates to recruitment and retention
- Assist with the co-ordination and preparation of interviews
- Develop and maintain a recruitment tracking system
- Develop a feedback survey, administer, and review data to enhance Blue Doors orientation program
- Manage the onboarding process, set-up new employees and students in Sage HRMS
**Other HR Administrative Duties (60% of time)**
- Update HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook. Communicate updates and changes to all employees as required
- Disability/Attendance Management
- Support managers with the Performance Appraisal process and track completion
- Support and maintain positive employee and labour relations
- HR Administration and Reporting
- Co-ordinates internal and external training
- Monitors employee probationary period activities, including tracking end dates, and serving as a resource regarding probationary issues
- Host health benefit and RRSP meetings as staff reach enrollment, enroll staff online with SSQ
- In co-operation with payroll, ensures employee salary and benefit needs, requests, and requirements are met
- Supports Director, HR with voluntary and involuntary terminations of employment
- Oversees maintenance of employee personnel files
- Supports with coordinating annual review of HR policies, revisions and updates

- Maintain professionalism in the workplace.
- Working cooperatively alongside and supporting all Blue Door team members and departments.
- Adherence to the mission, vision, policies and procedures of the agency.
- Able and willing to promote harm reduction practices in accordance with core standards.
- Attend internal staff meetings and staff training as required.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all client and agency information.
- Utilizes effective conflict resolution skills in accordance with (Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
- Fosters positive and appropriate relationships with clients, colleagues, community partners and volunteers.
- Provides referrals and follow-up as necessary.
- Meets with manager on a regular basis and participates in completion of annual performance evaluation.
**Occupational Health & Safety**
- All employees are responsible for carrying out work in a way that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others.
- All employees shall learn and understand health and safety policies and procedures and will comply with them.
- All employees must be able and willing to work within all programs and with flexible schedules
**Qualifications**
- A minimum of one (1) year experience with full-cycle and high-volume recruitment
- Experience as an HR generalist coordinating and administering HR related programs and policies
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Administration
- CHRP designation (or working towards it) preferred
- Professional work experience in a small business environment, and/or in the developmental services/mental health industry is preferred
- A good understanding of the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and other employment-related legislation
- The ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated strong organizational and written communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable
- Experience in non-profit sector an asset
- Proven effective interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- CPR and First Aid Certified
- Vulnerable Sector Screening - police check
- Valid Driver’s license, reliable vehicle and insurance. Ability to travel throughout York Region.
