**Client Overview**
Custom Steel Fabricator of Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals requires a Chief Estimator.

**Overview**
Chief Estimator responds to requests for quotations from General Contractors. CE also attends in person, at the Construction Association, or goes on line to seek out construction projects that have been put out to tender. The CE is responsible for identifying the architectural details that are suitable to steel fabrication - stairs, railings, etc. The CE uses drafting skills to do material takeoffs from the drawings and calculates weights and material pricing. Then, develops a cost for raw materials and adds a labour component for fabrication and installation.

**Responsibilities**
The Chief Estimator will quote on a minimum of $2M to $3M worth of projects on a monthly basis. The CE will typically work through the following steps on a bid by bid basis: Pre-bid Project Considerations Project Specifications Material Takeoff Shop vs Field Assemblies Calculating Weights & Material Pricing Standard Labor Units Detailing Considerations Finalizing the Estimate including Conditions, Qualifications, and Exclusions

**Requirements**:
5 to 7 years Drafting Experience 5 to 7 years Experince in a Custom Steel Fabrication shop Some sales experience (ability to interact with and build solid relationships with General Contractors) Detail Oriented Sense of Urgency Useful Follow up
