Do you have a passion for the outdoors? The City of Edmonton is looking for an individual to represent its Outdoor Adventure programs including day camps, school and group programs, registered and drop -in programs at parks around the city.

**What will you do?**
- Take an active role with the year
- round program planning process, based on identified need and related budgets
- Conduct program research, development, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Conduct program trends analysis on an ongoing informal, and formal basis; researching, monitoring and communicating program trends to community colleagues, and partners
- Develop programs within established registration, revenue and expenditure expectations
- Ensure program registrations and bookings are set up in RAMS and on MLP, and that the subsequent staffing and equipment requirements fit within designated revenue and expense targets
- Prepare and distribute program publicity/promotional material according to unit’s promotion/ marketing plan and ensure program content is reflected on areas such as: Website, Posters, Cisco Boards, Marquee signs, as well as communicated to different organizational business areas and other stakeholders
- Provide leadership and direct supervision of all direct reports Ensure all Corporate/Branch/Section policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to by all seasonal/part time staff
- Mentor Instructors/leaders in developing and maintaining skills that will contribute to an enhanced experience for customers
- Provide in-depth training for all aspects of the area, ensuring staff are equipped and have all resources and tools necessary to perform at a high standard
- Provide ongoing guidance for the instructors and Program Assistant by demonstrating the behaviors, values, and skills expected
- Ensure that current service levels are being met: staffing levels, service delivery, spaces booked
- Provide leadership, guidance and direction to Program Assistant and instructors for equipment maintenance and expectations

**Qualifications**:

- Degree/Diploma in Recreation, outdoor recreation, teaching (education) Leisure, Physical Education or a related discipline, with training in program development
- 1 year experience in program operations, development and delivery, budget monitoring and program trend analysis

**Assets**:

- Experience with RAMS/Intelli database Paddle Canada certification
- Certification in bicycle mechanics

**Skills required for success**:

- Experience working with/leading outdoor recreational programs
- Demonstrated ability supervising, hiring, training and evaluating staff and volunteers, with strong leadership and mentorship skills
- Proven experience with customer service and customer management delivery from a previous position
- Program specific knowledge: Registered programs, drop in programs, Green Shack Program, camps, canoeing, cycling, archery, cross country skiing, low rope, fire building, snowshoeing, and other outdoor based programing
- Proven excellence in written and verbal communication, interpersonal relations, customer service, organizational aptitude, time management and prioritization skills

**Conditions of Employment**:

- Current intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C (CPR & First Aid/ AED), are required prior to start date
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver’s permit is a requirement of this position
- Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton Policy. This may require business auto insurance
