**You are**

An **_Early Intervention Specialist - Deaf and Hard of Hearing._** You support children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing ages 0 - 6 and their families in the development of communication, language, and learning. You provide direct and consultative services on-site and at off-site locations throughout the province such as the child’s daycare, nursery school, home or kindergarten.

Provides early intervention services to First Nations’ preschool age (birth to school entry) Deaf and Hard of Hearing children as part of Jordan’s Principle - Child First Initiative. Services may be provided on-site and/or by distance technology. All services are provided with a family centered, multi-disciplinary approach in a consultative manner.

The position is based out of the world class SSCY Centre in Winnipeg with travel to a variety of Manitoba First Nations communities. You will travel with a team to communities with arrangements made on your behalf. Will have some flexibility with the schedule during a typical work week.

**The.5 EFT of this position is for Communication Centre for Children (CCC) and the other.5 EFT is for Jordan’s Principle.**

**Your Role**
- Planning and provision of comprehensive intervention programs and services as related to a child’s overall development and more specifically, the child’s development as related to hearing loss.
- Manage caseload according to current service delivery models.
- Prepare/submit required reports to parents and other professionals.
- Initiate/develop effective collaborative relationships with inter-sectoral partners and key stakeholders having an interest in or contributing to the delivery of services for children with disabilities in Manitoba.
- Organize/host workshops that support the educational needs of clients and the professional community, and/or the professional development of staff.
- Respond to requests for therapist participation in community in-servicing.
- Liaise with educational facilities regarding practicum placements for students in Teacher of the Deaf education programs.
- Support/contribute to public relations, public education or community liaison requests.
- Ensure adherence to Manitoba Possible policies and procedures and ensure service provision meets the requirements of external regulatory bodies.

**What You Know**
- Master of Education degree specializing in Education of the Deaf or a combination of education and experience at a Bachelor’s Degree level specializing in Early Childhood Education and/or Deaf Education may be considered
- Work experience with preschool children and children with special needs
- Fluent proficiency in ASL and Spoken English strongly preferred
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
